Binary package hint: freqtweak
When freqtweak is launched from the menu, it silently fails (although an error message is stored in ~/.xsession-
When this error occurs, freqtweak should provide graphical feedback to the user.
To work around this, jackd must be started, either from a command line or with qjackctl, prior to starting freqtweak.

From debian bug report:
The newest package automatically starts jackd, so this problem should no
longer happen. Anyone, feel free to reopen and explain why.
