Bug Description
Running any freeglut based application from a terminal with Xorg server 1.8 or later cause that terminal to be spammed with freeglut messages like the following one:
freeglut (./myglutapp): Unknown X event type: 105
I am currently running Kubuntu Maverick AMD64 with Xorg-edgers PPA:
- freeglut3 2.6.0-0ubuntu2
- xserver-xorg-core 2:1.8.99.
I had the same messages on Kubuntu Lucid AMD64 with Xorg-edgers PPA.
I have found two related fedora bugs :
- https:/
- https:/
The fix released for fedora package was just to comment out the generation of that annoying message :

Changed in freeglut (Ubuntu): | |
status: | New → Invalid |
I have just seen a related commit in mesa: cgit.freedeskto p.org/mesa/ mesa/commit/ ?id=f8d81c31cee 30821da3aab331a 57f484f6a07a5d
http://
and the related bug entry: /bugs.freedeskt op.org/ show_bug. cgi?id= 27962
https:/
So it looks like it is a bug in mesa, not in freeglut.
Unfortunately, that commit cause KWin to segfaults when OpenGL desktop effects are enabled (I have reported that new bug at freedesktop.org).
