Kevin, thank you for your bug report.
I don't think you were referring to the python-opengl (PyOpenGL), were you?
Can you please try to find the right package yourself? See the link posted by Stephan.
Thank you.

Hi,

That is correct the man pages I am referring to are not for
python-opengl, these are the man pages to describe the OpenGL API (as
used from C). I don't know which package should have these man pages,
since it is a bit of a stretch to say X must have it, maybe a Mesa
package?

What I do know is that typing, for example, "man glBegin" on my Ubuntu 7.10 system does not give a description of the OpenGL API function glBegin...

Also, do you have any idea what package this is in? I'm thinking libgl1-mesa-dev, but since I don't exactly know what API you're using, it's hard to tell. Until we put this into the right package, nobody will work on it.

If you don't know for sure, you can pick a header file that you're using, and run:
dpkg -S <path to header>

and it should identify a package for me. Or give me the names of a few headers and I'll run it.

The following packages are all missing manpages:
freeglut3-dev
mesa-common-dev
libglfw-dev
libglu1-mesa-dev
freeglut3-dev
x11proto-gl-dev

The manpages are missing in every ubuntu release since Hoary, including Oneric.

A user has reported that the mesa-common-dev package lacks manpages in
Ubuntu. Ubuntu is using version 8.0.

The original bug report says:

The original bug is here, but there are likely no other pertinent details:

Jeremy, given your list of packages, I have done the following:

freeglut3-dev - linked to this project in Launchpad

mesa-common-dev - filed a bug against mesa

libglfw-dev - this project has extensive PDF based docs, so I do not believe a man page is helpful and I did not file here. If you want to, you can file against the project directly. Their bug tracker is in sourceforge, here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=72569

libglu1-mesa-dev - this also comes from the mesa source package, so it is covered by the earlier mesa bug

x11proto-gl-dev - filed an upstream bug on this too.

There are OpenGL manpages, but not in Mesa:

These seems to be the ones other distributions are shipping (such as Arch).

Yeah, the OpenGL man pages come from Khronos, not from Mesa. Distribution packaging issue.
