Thanks for your bugreport.

It looks like the upgrade logs are corrupted for some reason. Could you please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/* ?

Same problem here on upgrade of a 32bit installation. This leads to a scary message that upgrade has failed and the system is unusable. But obviously the recovery has worked, the upgrade was then successfully concluded.
