Upgrade competes and reboots. Upon reboot login screen appears and there is no prompt to login using fingerprint scanner.

After login using password the user needs to:

run fprintd-enroll and fingerprints are enrolled.

On logout/reboot login using fingerprint scanner is available.

So this could be fixed upstream by providing some migration tool, but it is not trivial to do so.

Thus, right now it's not worth, as per the fact you can still re-enroll your finger in seconds and that it's not the only auth mode.

Also, probably needs going in the release notes to set a known password eg sudo passwd $USER if you use fingerprint login?

The fingerprint has never been recommended as the main authentification mechanism. Ideally we would like to migrate existing configuration and are going to keep the item in our backlog but our resources are limited so we don't commit to fix it as a rls target
