Print error when trying to print on a Brother HL-4050CDN

When I try to print using the foomatic BRscript or postscript then the first page prints junk. the second page has:

then lots of other numbers.

This happens with evince and google's own renderer.

The Brother driver works but is buggy and I would rather use the foomatic engine, as I did with precise.
