This is a dependency of graphite2, which is in main.

 1. This package is in Universe.
 2. graphite2 depends this package.
 3. http://cve.mitre.org/cve/cve.html shows no vulnerabilities.
 4. There are no bug reports in the Ubuntu and Debian trackers. It is a bit above my head to check for debconf configuration settings, but I can imagine that there are no issues.

 6. All dependencies are in Main already.
 7. This is also a bit above my head, so someone should check this, but I think it should be fine as there doesn't seem to be any upstream problems.
 8. There are no bug reports, and I can imagine it does not require much maintenance, due to the lack of bug reports.

The latest sync from Debian is stuck in proposed because it drops a binary package. I filed bug 1541511 to get that cleared up. I looked at both the release and proposed versions. Both are fine.

This still relies on python2, but it's just a build-depend, so that's fine.

But:
- Needs a package team bug subscriber for whomever will look after it in Ubuntu
