Bug Description

Unicode 6.0 is out, and this brings us the official smilie block:

  http://www.unicode.org/press/pr-6.0.html
  http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/Unicode-6.0/U60-1F600.pdf

a number of these official emoticon codepoints should map to the Ubuntu emoticons published recently by the design team:

  http://design.canonical.com/2010/10/ubuntu-emoticons/
  http://design.canonical.com/brand/Examples/Emoticons/emoticons.svg

ideally this should be expanded and imported as additions into the Ubuntu Font Family.

Matthew Paul Thomas (mpt) wrote :

As with the other symbols and pictographs (bug 820034), there is little benefit in these emoticons being part of the Ubuntu font itself, and that might prevent them from being in color as users increasingly expect.

tags: added: uff-dm-new
