Thanks, maybe you could also report it upstream on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-text-editor/-/issues ?

Actually, I am not sure is this a bug specific to gnome-text-editor, because all kinds of text editor are affected. I only choose gnome-text-editor for reporting the bug.

Could be a GTK toolkit problem if it's impacting several applications, would be worth reporting upstream still on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues

This maybe something relate to the default font for Chinese characters in Ubuntu 24.04.

After set custom font to `Monospace` or `Noto Sans CJK` in perferences of gnome-text-editor, the problem auto solved, while with `Ubuntu`, `Ubuntu Mono` or `Ubuntu Sans`, the problem exist.

Where should I report bug relate to the font?

The upstream project for the Ubuntu fonts is https://github.com/canonical/Ubuntu-Sans-fonts , it would nice if you could report the problem also there
