Bug Description
Ubuntu comes preinstalled with Byobu, which uses several glyphs in the status notification section at the bottom of the terminal window; however, these glyphs are not present in the Ubuntu Mono Typeface, so they are displayed as squares.
Here is a list of the missing glyphs:
⟫ (Double Right Chevron)
▴ (Black Up Triangle/Arrow)
▾ (Black Down Triangle/Arrow)
◂ (Black Left Triangle/Arrow)
▸ (Black Right Triangle/Arrow)
℃ (Degrees Celsius)
℉ (Degrees Fahrenheit)
⍌ (Mail Envelope)
♸ (Recycle Symbol with 6)
⟳ (Circular Arrow Clockwise)
‼ (Double Bang/Exclamation)
Fixing this bug would also fix bug 736613 and bug 868713.

We need to fix the build system for deterministically rebuilding the fontset; back out the the regressions in the unreleased version. At that point the newer prerelease does have glyphs for some of these codepoints; and it will become easier to merge in the rest.
