Bug Description
In small-sized fonts (font size <= 10) of the DejaVu Serif font, which appears to be the standard font for serif fonts in Ubuntu Dapper, the diaresis or trema is not centered above the respective character (a, u, or o). Misplacing becomes especially apparent for capitalized umlauts and o-umlauts in general.
For DejaVu Sans however, diareses are centered correctly. Umlauts are also correctly centered if autohinter is chosen in fontconfig via "dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig".

They are quite offset, with ö looking quite bad when using DejaVu Serif.
