Synthesis would occur twice as often if we presented both fonts individually to the user and they chose to embolden them anyway:

  Ubuntu Light -> [click bold] -> Synthesised Ubuntu Light Bold
  Ubuntu Medium -> [click bold] -> Synthesised Ubuntu Medium Bold
