Bug Description

Using dapper and installing fontconfig version 2.3.2-1.1ubuntu9 makes all fonts in firefox (1.5.0.1) and thunderbird (1.5) look smaller and ugly.

Downgrading the package to 2.3.2-1ubuntu4 solves the problem. See the forum

for more info.

That's odd, you seem to be describing the problem in bug #39447, but the ubuntu9 fontconfig package has fixed the problem. Can you verify that fonconfig re-scanned your fonts after the upgrade? All it took was a restart of X for me.

yes, fontconfig rescanned the fonts...

However I've now installed ubuntu10 package of fontconfig and the problem seems to have partially been removed. I.e. in Thunderbird and in Firefox some mails/htmlpages are displayed correctly, others are not. Maybe I'm doing a mess with my system config as I have changed firefox&thunderbird font settings some time ago... I'll try to restore them to default values and let you know
