Bug Description
I've upgraded to hardy, and the fonts in my webbrowser (both firefox and epiphany, leading me to believe it's a fontconfig bug) became VERY ugly.
My default font is "sans-serif", but lots of web pages render in a serif font, that has been smoothed into unreadability (I have a 150dpi 1920x1200 screen). The web sites that do render a sans-serif font tend to have wide and thin letter parts as well.

Confirmed here. Upgraded my notebook (using goubuntu instead of ubuntu-dektop, FWIW) with "apt-get dist-upgrade". What other information can I give?
