Problems with font cache after update

After last update on my 14.04 trusty machine, it takes a long time to regenerate the fonts cache. Now after that, most graphical applications take about 30 seconds to start with 100% CPU load. It is impossible to work with my system in this state.

I already tried purging and reinstallong all fontconfig-related packages and completely deleted and rebuildt my font cache, but the problem persists. Before the update everything was fine.

This also started to happen to me in 16.04.
When I remove a certain folder with lots of fonts (the ones I copied from Mac OS X partition) from my fonts folder, the problem seems to go away.

The same for me, I copied Fonts from OS X and fontconfig can't update
