Bug Description

Binary package hint: fnfxd

have upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 and now fnfx (toshiba keys) doesn't work, because it is not suported by the default kernel. I've tried to recompile the kernel with toshiba acpi suport and toshiba keys suport, but it returns this error:

sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.27.2.271008_2.6.27.2.271008-10.00.Custom_i386.deb

sudo fnfxd:

FnFX Daemon v0.3 (c) 2003, 2004 Timo Hoenig <email address hidden>

fatal error: Could not open /proc/acpi/toshiba/keys.
Please make sure that your kernel has enabled the Toshiba option in the ACPI section.
For more information read the documentation and/or http://fnfx.sf.net/index.php?section=doc#kernel.

sudo toshset:
required kernel toshiba support not enabled.

Guys,

I am trying to get fnfxd to work with my Toshiba Satellite M40 also... but I face the same kernel "not compiled with acpi toshiba" problem... can someone please help?

i also have the same problem, i have a A300 harman/karman.. everything else works!!

i have 6 touch buttons up with the power button and only one(mute) works properly.
Fn ESC and Fn F4 also work?

i also am unable to load the module toshiba_acpi with the error.....
># modprobe toshiba_acpi
FATAL: Error inserting toshiba_acpi (/lib/modules/2.6.27-17-generic/kernel/drivers/acpi/toshiba_acpi.ko): No such device
i have no /proc/acpi/toshiba......

the interesting thing is that X can see the buttons but wont use them properly....eg..

if i go into [system] [preferences] [keyboard shortcuts] and select the play/pause and press the toshiba hotkey.
the system see's that i pressed XF86AudioPlay
but if i try and use it anywhere else it don't work!

maybe its one of those modules that will need to be compiled in and not a module.

anybody?
