Thanks for taking your time to resolve this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I got the same error message when attempting to run flowblade on Ubuntu 20.10. Based on the error message, I manually installed `python3-distutils`, after which the program now starts. Looks like this package should be added as a required dependency for flowblade.

Changed in flowblade (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
tags: added: hirsute packaging

Does that mean that I write this in the terminal?:
sudo apt install python3-distutils

Yes, that should install the package. :) You can also install it in other ways, but I doubt it will show up in the Software app since it is a library.

meanwhile I did that:

in regard to
https://docs.python.org/3/library/distutils.html
I typed that in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install python3-setuptools
after this installation, Flowblade starts

thank you for your help; I could not have opened it without your help

Will this bug no longer exist in Ubuntu/Lubuntu 21.04?

At the moment this issue also affects Ubuntu Hirsute (21.04), since there's been no changes to the package.

I forwarded the issue to the Debian maintainers, to hopefully get it fixed. Once that has been resolved, installing flowblade should also install all required dependencies. In the meantime, installing it manually functions as a workaround.

Sorry this stayed open so long, I hope to fix it before the freeze... so Hirsute can have this bug closed.
