Flightgear 2.12.0 was released in November 2013, and 3.0.0 should be released on February 17, so it may be that this bug was already fixed.

Were you doing anything specific when FlightGear crashed?

I'll forward this to upstream, but I'm guessing it's a one-time crash, and that your next run should be fine.

Also, the keyboard controls are in the Help menu. See Common Aircraft Keys and Basic Simulator Keys.

Also, do you recall if there was any output in Terminal (if you launched it from Terminal) or a launcher that was related to the crash?

I have not ran it yet through terminal but ill retest it through the terminal

If you usually run it through a launcher (FGRun, fg_flier, etc.), there's usually a window that pops up which is essentially the Terminal window for flightgear. You can use that as well.

Ubuntu 14.04 has FlightGear 3.0.0. If you're willing to, can you run "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" and test FlightGear again?
