Bug Description

Ubuntu 11.10
hp notebook dv6

Regretion

When playing sound in firefox flash player, I can't use other sound app (sound is muted). Only flash player "speaks". Furthermore, flash player is not listed in Applications list of sound settings (as it was in ubuntu 11.04).

However if I read HTML5 sound/video in firefox, it works properly (only flash make sound system bugs).

This is caused by libasound2-plugins:i386 being missing from your system. It should be installed automatically, but is not due to bug #861025.

You can manually install it by running the following command:

  sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugins:i386 libjack0 libjack0:i386

Bug 861025 has been fixed in oneiric. You can fix sound now by just running:

  sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugins:i386

Users who newly install the flashplugin package in oneiric, or who upgrade to the final release of oneiric, will get libasound2-plugins installed with it automatically.

Changed in flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu):
status: Triaged → Fix Released

The suggested fix did not work here. This is a fresh install from Oneiric.
