Are you using the Xorg edgers PPA ?

I also had this issue yesterday caused by the ia32-libs package provided by this PPA.
Running nspluginwrapper manually shows that the 32-bit version of the libxcb-shm.so.0 is missing.

Reverting to the ia32-libs package from Ubuntu repositories solved the issue for me.

This is only affecting xorg-edgers ppa users. An updated package is on its way.

This bug has been marked as Fix Committed for over a year. If the fix has made it into Ubuntu, please mark this bug as Fix Released. If the fix has been released upstream, but not Ubuntu, create a new bug asking for the new version and tag it with upgrade-software-version. If this bug has not been fixed anywhere, change the status back to Confirmed.

That distro have reached EOL since a while; and such problem has been resolved long ago.
