I encountered the same problem. Closer analysis revealed
$ sudo nspluginwrapper -v -v -i /usr/lib/ flashplugin- installer/ libflashplayer. so nspluginwrapper /noarch/ npview flashplugin- installer/ libflashplayer. so
.: 4: Can't open /usr/lib/
nspluginwrapper: no appropriate viewer found for /usr/lib/
which could be fixed by running
$ sudo aptitude reinstall nspluginwrapper
