Flash plays sounds even when the sound is muted

On dapper up-to-date.

With the sound muted with the Gnome Volume Applet, all my apps are muted (no sound if I player mp3s, or any other sounds). But if a flash animation has sound in firefox it plays this sound (and pretty loud!). It's very annoying, especially when you have muted the sound because you are in a meeting or in class.

Please ask if you want more information.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'flash-player'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

The problem does not happen on Debian with these packages:

firefox 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.7-1
flashplugin-nonfree 9.0.21.55.1

(That page at Adobe produces "LNX 9,0,21,55" and debug=no.)
