Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

This seems to be a connection problem of the "download tool" used in the upgrade process. I can download the package "adobe-flashplugin_10.0.22.87.orig.tar.gz" with Firefox in 8.10 (while the upgrade program is stuck with the download) perfectly. But the connection of the upgrade "download tool" seems to be stuck while downloading the flash package.
The upgrade fails because of Flash ...
Can't this be marked as "optional"?

This is a 8.10 amd64 installation upgrading to 9.04 with the update manager.

Same symptoms as others. Download was tried 4 times throughout upgrade process. Reached 5%, 6%, 72%, 20% of download before it stalled.

the Network being down during upgrade should be fixed in latest update-manager. was your network completely down? or just had bad traffic?

Network was up and traffic to Ubuntu servers was fine (managed to security update another machine on same network at same time).

After upgrade, I tried to manually install this package (thru Synaptic), but failed again. Then tried uninstall, which seemed to fail too, because it tried to download package before uninstall. However Synaptic showed it removed from installed packages list. I also removed flashplugin-installer (ok) and then installed adobe-flashplugin (ok). Now flash works (from Firefox).

Thanks. so if you remove adobe-flashplugin again and install flashplugin-installer can you still reproduce?

I removed all flash related packages (flashplugin-installer and flashplugin-nonfree) there was no adobe-flashplugin package. Then I reinstalled the flashplugin-installer - this time it worked without being stuck.

I removed adobe-flashplugin and am in process of trying to install flashplugin-installer. I'm experiencing the same problem as before (current install log attached, 40minutes after start), but I'm going to let the thing run overnight.

The download completed (took 3 hours) and the package successfully installed. Attached the install log.
