Bug Description

Firefox crashing when I try to switch to full screen youtube viewing mode.

Using Ubuntu 8.04 and firefox with the below version information

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008072820 Firefox/3.0.1

Firefox crashes when I try to switch to full screen mode on youtube. After I force kill firefox it won't let me restart it because it says firefox is still running but not responding.

When this happens and I try to reboot, my entire Ubuntu 8.04 OS crashes and I need to perform a cold reboot.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in flashplugin-nonfree.

Try
sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-nonfree
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

Did this help the problem.

 Thanks!

Unfortunately, I've since gone moved to Ubuntu 8.10 and then to Linux Mint
6. I won't be able to try out your solution, but I appreciate that you got
back to me on this.
Thank you very much for your help.
