2008-01-09 02:27:29 Kevin description Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20 steps to reproduce this bug: 1. use a machine with an onboard sound chipset that loads snd-hda-intel such as the "realtek hd audio" (ALC883) 2. load firefox with flashplugin-nonfree and navigate to a site with flash videos that play audio, almost anything on google video or youtube 3. load a video, let it play for a few seconds, then navigate away from the page while the video is playing, or close the browser tab while the video is still playing. Around 20% of the time firefox will freeze and have to be terminated. Testing indicates this is a sound-related problem for the following reasons: several other people with the same problem reported having sound chipsets that use the same drivers. this problem is not limited to firefox, it can also be reproduced in konqueror. I was able to stop the freezing by disabling onboard sound in the bios, another user reported stopping the problem by switching to different sound card the problem has been discussed in the following bug report, with sound-specific discussion starting on 2007-05-10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-nonfree/+bug/104470 also one user reported they could avoid the problem by reverting to the pre-feisty kernel 2.6.15-27 Steps to reproduce this bug: 1. Start Firefox with flashplugin-nonfree and navigate to a site with flash videos that play audio (e.g. http://video.google.com) 2. Play a video for a few seconds then navigate away from the page using your browsers back button. On occasion Firefox will freeze and have to be terminated.

Start Firefox with flashplugin-nonfree and navigate to a site with flash videos that play audio (e.g. http://video.google.com) 2. Play a video for a few seconds then navigate away from the page using your browsers back button. On occasion Firefox will freeze and have to be terminated. Steps to reproduce this bug: 1. Start Epiphany browser with flashplugin-nonfree and navigate to Youtube.com 2. Play videos by either a) Play the whole video till end, then click one of the relevant videos in the flash window b) Play the video and click on the link to a different one during playback c) Play a playlist of videos and use the "next" link from time to time In other words, use Youtube like it's ment to be used. Sooner or later, Epiphany crashes. Sometimes it will crash every time I restore the Epiphany and try to navigate the same.
