I download successfully from here:

In order to get it working again, paste the following in your terminal and press Enter:

cd /tmp && wget https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/partner/+files/adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.243.orig.tar.gz && sudo /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/install_plugin /tmp/adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.243.orig.tar.gz

This will download the tarball from Launchpad (as shown in the previous comments), put it in the /tmp folder and install it afterwards. Basically, it will do what flashplugin-installer does. You might have to restart your browser(s) afterwards.

I don't really understand why the regular process hangs, because clicking the download link from the terminal (the tarball it never seems to download), does result in my browser being able to access the link without any problems.

It seems to be fixed at this point. Can anyone confirm?

Just tried on another machine and it seems to work, I will try again on the machine that I originally noticed it on later today.

This seems related to machines behind a proxy, and the proxy not being well detected. That's why "wget" works, but "dpkg" does not seem able to detect the proxy to download the file. Anybody can confirm that this is only seen on machines behind a proxy?

affects: update-notifier (Ubuntu) → flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu)
