Bug Description

Binary package hint: firestarter

In a fully update edgy eft version:

With no adjustments in the Sudoers file firestarter works perfect.
When adding user1 ALL=/usr/sbin/firestarter (for user1 the right and specific username) firestarter wont startup.
Removing the line from the sudoers file makes firestarter work again.

Why are you adding firestarter explicitly to sudoers? Anyone in the admin group can use sudo and gksudo to run anything...

I want that all accounts (also restricted) are being able to check messages etc. Used to use it combined with the start-hidden option in the startup sessions.
The second reason is switching from wireless ATH0 to ETH0. When switching the firewall has to be stopped or the primary adapter has to be changed -> Firestarter can not handle two primary adapters with internet access on one computer.

This looks similar to bug #30291. Can you try the work-around listed towards the bottom of the comments and see if this is the same issue?

Changed in firestarter:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

The issue is the same. The work aroud works almost perfectly. It creates a new smaller problem. If 2 accounts are logged on and they both start firestarter with the same script -> firestarter gui starts twice (ok) -> on the Desktop of one user (not ok). The second user runs the script and thinks that it is not working.
