drag and drop image to desktop or nautilus does not save image, only links to image

Ubuntu 11.10

firefox 10.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1

when dragging an image in other browsers, the image saves to computer, as I was expecting to happen in firefox

instead, firefox creates a link in the directory dragged to, linking to the website of the image

this has worked as expected in 11.04, this is on a newly-created user, no settings changes

Dragging an image will create a link. Dragging while holding the Control key will download the file.
Is this a conscious change in behavior or a bug?
I would prefer the old behavior of dragging an image to download (without Control key).

That would clash with the Horror Userfrienlii that has gripped the Firefox Development Community since, oh 'bout five years ago.
Options squashed, regression is a feature, we know what's best, emulate the comp. even if they're crippled-- you know, that kind of thing.
