Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

This may be tough to duplicate. I had 5 or 6 tabs open, tried to view a *.mov for which I did not have the codec installed. Closed that tab. Downloaded the *.mov file to my desktop and viewed it directly with Totem after installing codec -- all outside of Firefox. Finished watching video, exited Totem. Clicked on Firefox to set focus back to Firefox and it aborted immediately on receiving the click event.

Hello Launchpad,

Thank you for the bug report, this issue seems to be popping up a little recently, can you take a look at bugs: #70875 #72018 to see if they seem like a similar behaviour to the one you are experiencing?

Also which Totem plug-in are you using? -gstreamer or -xine? (You can find out by looking in Synaptic).

Also can I get you to retrace your crash report to include the debugging symbols. (Install the package firefox-dbg from synaptic/adept. Go to terminal run the command 'apport-retrace -d /var/crash/_usr_lib_firefox_firefox-bin.1000.crash', then reupload the resulting file.)

We can then do something useful with that report as at the moment it doesn't tell us much. (Don't ask why you have to do this, we are working on it :))

Thanks again, Alex.

can we retrace this report or do we need a new crash report?

Sorry. Short on time to do all this.

I've got both the gstreamer and xine versions of Totem installed, according
to Synaptic, but that doesn't tell us anything about which plugin Firefox is
using. I won't be able to retrace since the dump got overwritten by a
subsequent crash.
