I'm experiencing this bug, too. Interesting observation and also a "dirty" workaround: As long as you keep open the first pdf in one tab, you can open other pdfs. Otherwise it crashes.

btw, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04, Firefox 12.0 and adobe-flashplugin 11.2.202.235-0precise1.
But I'm experiencing this since Ubuntu 11.04.

ups, sorry, adobe flashplugin has nothing to do with this bug. I'm using adobereader-deu 9.4.7-1oneiric1 (german version) from "partner" repository. The plugin was installed automatically.

Do you guys get the blank black page? Or is it something different?
I feel like I have this problem with this adobe reader plugin, but it not as consistent as it is described: I noticed that as soon as I get the blank screen, I can never get another pdf to open, but sometimes I can open many pdf successively without any problem...

Is this bug only for when it happens after opening and closing a first pdf successfully?

I thought it would be good to mention Bug #806908

There might be a duplicate here.

I confirm the behavior reported in #6. I have since disabled acroread plugin and am using the external evince viewer, not a nice solution but the bug made browsing practically impossible.

Hi, a new acroread release (0.9.4) is available for update, could you give it a try and tell us if the problem persists?
If you still have this bug please set back the status to "new"
thanks

This bug has affected me since at least Ubuntu 11.04. I have the same problem in Lubuntu, Xubuntu 12.04-12.10 and elementary OS. The problem is the same even with the most current Abobe Reader. I use adobe reader because it supports active buttons on the pdf where document viewer does not seem to work in this respect.

Forgot to mention, the absolute best work around is to use Google Chrome which I believe does not use Adobe at all but renders the PDF with its own engine. All pdf functions work flawlessly. Maybe it is time for firefox to do the same.
