Lots of URLs cause this. I'm seeing exactly the same thing (ubuntu 6.06, updated to FF 1.5.0.9 this morning).

Here's a recipe that (should) avoid any locally installed cookies, extensions, etc. and causes FF to segfault every single time for me, on a simple page with no fancy media etc. (a Mailman login page):

     mkdir $HOME/fftest
     HOME=$HOME/fftest firefox -a fftest http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/admindb/help-make

Type in a password, something bogus like "foobar" (it doesn't matter what password you use).

When FF asks if you want to remember the password, click "Remember". Say Continue to sending unencrypted info.

Boom!! Instant crash.

Further, if you restart FF with the same URL (without deleting the fftest directory) it will immediately crash again, every time.

Thanks for the update, Paul. I was real surprised to see it barf, and
then when I tried the "native" page [not the saved URL] it went down as
well. As far as I know, there should be no saved info relating to the
base URL. I'll delete cookies, etc., to try.

I haven't run into this on other pages, yet (although I have a number
for which I have saved cookies, not to mention login information).

Thanks, again.

Problem has been resolved with update to FF 2.0.0.1 from
wiki.ubuntu.com/FirefoxNewVersion.

Cannot replicate problem with my reported sites.

FF 1.5.0.9 is what is in the official ubuntu repositories and manually installing FF 2.0 is not an adequate solution.

But you are correct, the problem is limited to 1.5.0.9.
