Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Had four tabs open -- two in each of two Firefox windows.

Tried to 'listen again' at a BBC web page.
Totem error popped up saying unable to read (or whatever -- didn't take much note).
All seemed OK.

Then tried to download (Save as) an attached rtf file from an email in my GoogleMail inbox.
Download process started.
Processor racked up to 100% for about five seconds.
Firefox crashed.

Then the problem report system gathered its info.
It suggested attaching the crash report file.
There's no 'attach file' button on this report form and I'm not sure if pasting 17.8MB of text will be appreciated. Other bug reports have a 'Add a comment/attachment' link. Is this a bug in launchpad :)
I'll keep an eye on this bug report thread and see if anybody asks for it -- so to speak.

Hi John

I did gather a crash report but, as I said in my original post, it's a 17.8MB file! I'm happy to post it if you and launchpad are happy to receive it :)

Totem version is:
Totem Movie Player 2.16.2
Movie Player using GStreamer 0.10.10 and GNOME

first few lines from 'apt-cache showpkg totem':
Package: totem
Versions:
2.16.2-0ubuntu3 (/var/lib/apt/lists/gb.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_edgy-updates_main_binary-i386_Packages) (/var/lib/dpkg/status)

Hope this helps.
Al

Can you reproduce this reliably?

No.

Totem has popped up and 'failed to open the file' several times since then, but no crash.

I've just tried the combination described in my first post (run totem then download rtf) and all was well.

At the time the crash happened there were several windows open. It's likely there were several events combining to cause the crash.

I'm guessing the crash report is the only avenue left to explore...

I removed the mt-needretrace tag as this bug has no useful report attached so far. Waiting for reporter feedback.
