Mouse stops responding in Firefox and then interrupts all mouse usage (no left click, no right click) and trackpad fails

After loading Firefox, an external USB mouse (Logitech wireless) stop responding to clicks. The motion works fine, but right/left clicks stop working. Additionally, even after the external mouse is disconnected, the builtin trackpad doesn't function with the same symptoms.
