wallpapers set from firefox are not saved

Binary package hint: firefox

steps to reproduce:
1. open firefox;
2. set an image as wallpaper (right click on it and choose "set as background");
3. set a different image as wallpaper as well;

current results:
after you save the second image, the first one is not available as a wallpaper in the appearance settings application.

expected results:
I would love to have both images in the appearance settings application.

this bug was discussed in this report (item 2) and apparently the proposal for solution was made but not implemented:
