Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

When you right click a text box Firefox gives you the option to choose the dictionary for the spelling check.
The problem is that if you speak languages like english (US variant, UK variant, Australian variant..) and spanish (Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua...) the list gets HUGE! (as shown in the attached picture)

Theese are the packages that are installed at the moment:
myspell-en-au myspell-en-za myspell-fr myspell-en-gb myspell-es myspell-it

Each of them provides several dictionaries. I want only one of each language, it doesn't really matter which one, so this is just an example: English (UK), Spanish (Spain), French (France), Italian (Italy).

I've found a workaround for this problem:
Go to /usr/share/hunspell and delete all the symbolic links (as root), then restart Firefox

I still think that common users shouldn't need to become root and delete symlinks to change this trivial option!

This has been going on for far too many years. I believe it is imperative that we do not flood with MANY dictionaries when we just want one. It is extremely impractical to have to scroll the long menu items to find the desired dictionary.

When installing Spanish dictionary such as myspell-es, it installs TWENTY-ONE Spanish dictionaries from diverse countries. This is in contrast to the English dictionaries where each dialect has their own package (myspell-en-au, myspell-en-us, etc)
