Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

I have a problem with Firefox 3.6.10 on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. When I go at www.virgilio.it I get redirected to the mobile version of the site url http://mobile.virgilio.it/micro/canali/home/index.jsp
This problem occurs only with Firefox. If I try to access the page with another browser such as Opera does not have this problem.
Ubuntu 4.10 with no problem.
I reported the problem also on the Italian Ubuntu forum where other people have experienced the same bug

Sorry for my bad English

Thanks, but this is a website bug. It's checking the UA string to detect which browser you have. If I change my UA string to Internet Explorer, then it works normally in Firefox.

You should contact the authors of that website instead, so they can fix their broken website

Changed in firefox (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

Thanks for the answer but this problem is only under Ubuntu 10.10
If I open same page with Ubuntu 10.04 and Firefox 3.6.10 the page is correct.

That's most likely because the UA strings are slightly different between the 2 versions (the 10.04 from Lucid is replaced with a 10.10 in Maverick). This is still a website bug though

Indeed, I've just confirmed myself that if you change the "10.10 (maverick)" part of the UA string to "10.04 (lucid)", then the website renders correctly.

Please report this bug to the website authors.

Thanks

you're right, changing the string from maverick to rub the problem does not arise. Now I try to contact the company who created the portal and see what they tell me.
