Firefox freezes on launch with 'futex_wait_queue_me'

Every time I start Firefox, both firefox and java are listed as 'futex_
Everything becomes unresponsive, webpage content, scrollbars, UI buttons and window controls.
Checking on this tells me people around 8.10 got this bug. However, I am on 10.04.

I have the same symptoms. Both Firefox and java processes are in the "futex_ wait_queue_ me" state. It usually recovers after 20-30 seconds. It usually happens right after starting Firefox, but sometimes also during normal use.
I'm on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10, newly installed and fully updated.
