Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. I was unable to reproduce this bug with Firefox 3.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. Could you please describe in detail what happens when the video does not play? The more detailed you are, the easier it will be for us to diagnose the issue.

Changed in firefox (Ubuntu):

I am facing this issue in Firefox 3.6.3 x86_64 in Lucid. I just ran update manager and my system is supposed to be uptodate.
I am attaching a screenshot of the issue (shutter comes into help). When I click on the video to play or click on the play button nothing happens.
Let me know if you need any other details.

It looks like you may be experiencing bug 410407 which deals with Flash content being unresponsive. The third workaround on that report has been successful for many people, so could you please try it and see if it resolves the issue? If it does, then this report is a duplicate of that one and I will mark it as such.

If the workaround does not work, please let us know and we can try something else. Thanks!

The 3rd workaround really works. I have tested the issue with youtube video controls, BBC video playing issues. Both are working now. Some of the Web Based training materials use flash to deliver distant learning. The flash content never used to work. This made me have dual boot with windows on our m/cs. Now those are working as well. The only thing holding me back from wiping out windows are:
Performance of flash player (much better than karmic, but still choppy)
Netflix (darn!)
This coming from a user who likes to keep options open is something achieved! Way to go, ubuntu!
