description |
Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox
I was not able to print a long web page, since it prints only the first one.
It does also affect the print preview, which tries to fit the whole web page on one printer page. |
some web pages (example: show attachment) cannot be printed using programs like firefox2, firefox3, epiphany-browser, open-office-writer in ubuntu because the only the first page is rendered and the document is cropped thereafter.
all of the programs can display the page but are unable to generate a printing version. i.e. printing on hardware printers, printing to software printers, displaying print previews and switching to print layout (open office only) shows only the first page.
speculation: this is because certain html-entities (special tables?!?) are believed to be non-breakable where in fact they should be split onto two pages. |

speculation: this is because certain html-entities (special tables?!?) are believed to be non-breakable where in fact they should be split onto two pages. |
Some websites using particular layout techniques do not print or print-preview correctly in gecko-based browsers (firefox, epiphany, etc), causing an incomplete print if the site cannot fit on a single page.
Typically, a header is printed on one page, and a single page of content on a second page, and nothing further.
The technique in question is the use of css's "overflow: none" + inline-frames (iframe). |
