Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Hi! i'm experimenting some problems with EXA acceleration, take a look at the screenshots.

Bug 1: The youtube home page is full of artifacts with EXA, but with XAA is perfect.

Bug 2:In the second post there is another screen in which you can see a trasparency problem around the button and the upload form.

Alex

PS i've made some boxes around the bugs, just to highlight the problem..

There have been many EXA improvements since Intrepid. Do you have a chance to test Jaunty, for instance from a live CD?

feel free to give up on the second bug, probably is a problem of theme itself and not a trasparency issue like i said..

That message is usually harmless and has been quietened in xserver Git.

It would be nice if this kind of basic triage was done *before* forwarding reports here... Did you verify in Xorg.0.log that the options were honoured as intended?

you might also want to try a different version of flash. Some versions are flakier than others.

Alex, you can get builds from "git master" in my PPA https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive/ppa

I have the exact same problem on Ubuntu 9.04 64bit and 9.10 alpha 3 32bit(livecd). My gpu is an x1800xl.
The problem goes away if I use XAA.

Furthermore I tested it with packages provided by Volden's PPA and the problem persists in git.
The packages I downloaded are:
1. xserver-xorg-video-ati_6.12.99+git20090710.43db263d-0ubuntu0tormod_amd64.deb
2. xserver-xorg-video-radeon_6.12.99+git20090710.43db263d-0ubuntu0tormod_amd64.deb

I am having similar problems.

Additionally there is an annoying issue with my mouse pointer. It is 'flickering'. But only on a few vertical positions. Horizontal I haven't realized this flickering.

I am trying to attach a short video which shows the problem (better to understand if you have seen it yourself).
