The user agent string of firefox in hardy doesn't identify it as being Ubuntu:
• Ubuntu 7.10: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071204 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.11
• Ubuntu 8.04: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008060309 Firefox/3.0

According to the changelog, this is fixed in Intrepid:

build-depends
- update debian/control

I'm using Firefox 3.0.3 in Hardy from official repositories. And this bug is no more!!
My user agent string:
