Bug Description

Firefox is web browser, used as the default in Ubuntu.

The view-source feature to view the HTML content of a page is currently broken.
 The following actions:

  View->View Source
  Right Click->View Source

Bring up a small error box containing:

  XML Parsing Error: syntax error
  Location: chrome://global/content/viewSource.xul
  Line Number 1, Column 3:

    if (doReload)
  --^

The only option is then to close dialogue by pressing the [X] in the top right
hand corner.

This often happens when you upgrade Firefox while it is running. Close firefox
and reopen it and the problem should correct itself.

Two earlier rounds of closing all Firefox windows didn't cure this. A third one
has. *boggle*.

If have seen this happening on diifferent places in chrome:/// after the last
update. A few restarts of firefox-bin cured it. Not sure what's going on here,
but definitely caused by upgrading-while-running.

Firefox should use update-notifier to notify the user that firefox should be
restarted.

I think you'll see that the fix for this (a notification message) is being addressed in bug 36739 - maybe this one can be closed now?
