Bug Description

They not only install the corresponding snap but also at least have some hooks to update-alternatives and also provide www-browser, x-www-browser, gnome-www-browser. As such, removing the package might result in installation of something preposterous such as wslu to satisfy such a meta-package dependency, as reported in LP:2060898.

The packages' description might lead one to remove them expecting no side effects:

So I suggest we change it.

The attachment "chr.diff" seems to be a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe the team.

This is sitting in the sponsorship queue doing nothing with a valid debdiff to update at least chromium's info. Furthermore, it's approaching SRU territory and the bug needs to be formatted as such. What's going on here?

I'd certainly put this on a higher priority or this is just going to rot.

For firefox, the changes clarifying this have been merged into the oracular branch of the repo:

Yet to be finalized and uploaded - perhaps along with my proposed changes for LP: #2064819.
