Bug Description

My desktop freezes for no obvious reason. I manage to unfreeze it by locking the session, which responds 15/20s after lock input. After unlocking, computer is responsive, all my apps are still here, except for Firefox which is closed. When I open it, my tabs are back. No crash report in Firefox is available for this bug.

Does the problem occur if Firefox is never opened?

Do you find any files in /var/crash ?

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → ubuntu
Changed in ubuntu:
status: New → Incomplete

Nothing in /var/crash.

Can't recall the problem occurring without Firefox opened, but the problem doesn't arrive that often, and I kind of always have Firefox opened.

Next time a freeze happens, please:

1. Wait for it to unfreeze.

2. Run: journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

3. Attach the resulting text file here.

Perfect, thanks. That log shows clearly that the kernel ran out of memory, and the main causes are:

1. Firefox
2. Thunderbird
3. Teams
4. GNOME Shell

It seems to be only one Firefox tab causing most of the problem (10 gigabytes).

affects: ubuntu → firefox (Ubuntu)
Changed in firefox (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → New
