Bug Description

My laptop is sometimes used by visitors. They want to browse the internet. So I setup the guest-account. I found out that the Firefox snap is broken on guest-accounts.

When opening Firefox nothing happens. When starting FF from the command line of the guest-account I found out the following:

$ firefox
2022/07/12 00:46:01.906615 tool_linux.go:82: cannot open snapd info file “/snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info”: open /snap/snapd/current/usr/lib/snapd/info: permission denied

Version information:
Guest Account on Xubuntu 22.04 (Jammy)
FF version: 102.0.1 (64-bit)
Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002-1.0

I just installed xubuntu 22.04 in a VM and I can't see the option on the login screen.

This bug affects Xubuntu 22.04 Jammy!
Marking it a duplicate of a 6 year old bug in Xenial is like saying: WILL NEVER FIX.
Please remove the duplicate demarcation and mark it as a prominent bug in the latest LTS version of Xubuntu Jammy and give it the attention it deserves.

I just verified that Firefox in the guest account on Xubuntu 16.04 Xenial works fine,
but Firefox in the guest account on Xubuntu 22.04 Jammy does NOT work.
So this bug is NOT a duplicate of bug #1593407 !
It is a new bug in Xubuntu 22.04 Jammy.

Firefox in 16.04 wasn't installed as a snap, whereas in 22.04 it is a snap by default. So it is indeed a duplicate of bug #1593407.

Especially while in Xubuntu 16.04 Xenial this problem didn't exist at all.
Now that 16.04 is retired users can't circumvent this problem any more.

Maybe snap is not the way to go when this problem can't be solved, but all bridges seem to have been burned. Existing functionality was sacrificed because no-one seems to be able to fix it.

Please stop your Jedi mind trick to take focus off this very actual bug.

This is not a jedi trick, it's called triaging: having several bug reports for the same issue doesn't help getting it fixed, it just creates noise. For the record, I do agree that this issue is important and should be fixed. I suggest commenting (with constructive comments) on bug #1593407, not here.
