Cannot drag and drop bookmark to desktop

I'm having trouble dragging and dropping some bookmarks to the desktop. I bookmarked the following url: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118889/ and then tried to drag it to the desktop and expected to see a link (represented by a globe with and arrow and the name of the title of the bookmark) I get an error:

Confirmed occurs as reported.

Fixed in firefox 3.0b4

Scratch that, it does still occur. But it seems to only occur with the original reported link, not sure why.

Problem: Crash of the desktop.
To reproduce: Drag a bookmark from the Firefox *bookmarks toolbar* to the desktop.

Hardy: Final, i386
Firefox: 3, Beta 5
Hardware: Eee PC 900

To create links on the desktop, I am still having some troubles (Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric):

the way to do it is through dragging the address-bar icon to the desktop, then wait a second or two before releasing it.

-- this is a basic feature. It works better than on previous Ubuntu releases, but work is still needed to be done, IMO.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug and its many duplicates were reported a long time ago. There have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since that time.

Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported using Firefox 63 in a currently supported versions of Ubuntu?
