Hi,

To reproduce this problem, all I had do to was try typing the bug details
on the bug reporting web page. It simply crashes the moment I start
typing. I had to use older version of fixefox to file this bug.

Best Regards,
Suresh.

I'm sorry, but I can not reproduce this problem

Since this issue crashes firefox for you, the best thing to do would be to submit the crash report. Apport does this automatically.

Could you please start firefox again to reproduce the problem, then when it crashes either let Apport submit all the information automatically or if that does not happen follow these directions:

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using "/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash" in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Hi,

please submit the crash report by (double) clicking on it (e.g. using gnome file manager). Otherwise, we won't be able to process it efficiently. The .crash files can be found in the /var/crash directory.

Thanks,

Hi,

I can't even reply to your mail using firefox. Even clicking, to add comment
to the incident causes firefox to disappear. Howver no .crash files
are generated
 on my system:

> ls -al /var/crash
total 8
drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 4096 2008-01-04 14:08 .
drwxr-xr-x 15 root root 4096 2007-10-30 14:03 ..

Is there any option to invoke firefox with some debugging enabled ?

Best Regards,
Suresh.

PS: I'm responding to this mail using 'konqueror'

try to disable spellchecking in the firefox preferences dialog.

if it still crashes, run firefox from a terminal:

strace -f -eopen firefox &> /tmp/firefox.strace.log

and attach the log file to this bug.

Thanks,

Hi,

Ok, disabling the spell check did the trick for me.
I'm responding to this mail, using firefox, which used
to crash as soon as I used to click on reply.

Thanks a lot, you can close this bug.

Best Regards,
Suresh.
