firefox duplex printing fails

Duplex printing in Firefox does not work.

Printer is set to duplex, printer settings are set to duplex by default. LibreOffice and Chromium print pages duplex by default.

Firefox does not even though duplex printing is set in the default settings and in the document printer settings.
It simply ignores it.

Duplex printing in Firefox broke after upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04. I did not altered CUPS configuration during this upgrade.

I likewise encountered this problem after upgrading from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. Duplex printing works fine from other applications. I currently have Firefox 62.0.3 installed.
