Bug Description

Since I have been using Thunderbird version 1:38.7.2+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 on Xenial, I can observe it crashing (seemingly) randomly while idle or while busy, resulting in the platform-independent Mozilla crash dialogue window.

I don't know if this is related to Xenial or to internal changes at Mozilla.

The bug still persist with Thunderbird 45.0.4 under Xubuntu Xenial. I tried to restart with all add-on off, but it still crashes.

Now using Firefox 49.0.2 and Thunderbird 1:45.4.0 in Ubuntu Mate 16.04. Thunderbird does not crash at all any more. Firefox crashes at idle 2-3 times per month. This is a big improvement.

The same bug affects me. Thunderbird and Firefox crash so often that I can't use them.
Ubuntu LTS 16.04.1
Firefox version 50.1.0
Thunderbird version 45.5.1

Crash reports attached.

Hi,

I've got *Ubuntu 16.04 L.T.S. installed on about 5 computers, only one has this above crashing.

Desktop configuration (where Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird keeps crashing):
- 750watt modular power supply
- ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard with current non-beta BIOS
- AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz(4GHz turbo) 8-core CPU
- 32GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM memory
- GigaByte nVidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 Twin Turbo OC Edition PCIexpress graphic card
(proprietary nVidia version 378.13 Linux display drivers installed)
- Western Digital 1TB SATA primary hard disk drive(system)
- Western Digital 1TB SATA secondary hard disk drive(data)
- Intel Pro 1000 PCI network adapter
- Dual DVD-RW DL SATA CD/DVD disc drives
- Internal USB 2.0 multi-card reader
- Generic USB wired keyboard and USB wired mouse

Hopefully this will be fixed soon, thanks!

Jesse
