Bug Description

( Maybe this should just be a tip that is added directly to the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs page, but if there's a way for a regular Ubuntu Launchpad user to edit that page I could not see it.)

I installed fglrx on my desktop for my AMD Radeon HD 5770 card so I could use Steam on Ubuntu 15.04 (beta). Afterwards, Firefox performance degraded significantly and there were frequent pauses and hangs when switching tabs and opening new pages. I disabled or removed all plugins, and the problem persisted. I started following the directions at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-hangs-or-not-responding in order, and when I followed the directions in the section "Turn off hardware acceleration" that fixed it.

If anyone would like for me to turn the hardware acceleration back on and try to capture a stacktrace during the hang with Sysprof (as is described on the MozillaTeam/Bugs pages above), please just let me know.

Thanks.

Michael,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once in a terminal:

apport-collect 1445051

and add any additional information that you think relevant. Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the report. If we do not hear from you this bug report will close in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.
